"I think we underestimate what exercise does," he says. "We go to the gym to make ourselves look good when we have to know that raising the heart rate is just it does amazing things for the brain" He recommends doing hard at minimum 20 minutes a day, four days a week. The only way to really increase VO2 max is by getting your heart rate to 65% of its maximum level.
