Announcing a Time for the Withdrawal Is Probably Our First Mistake

I don't know that we ever should have made, one, the announcement of the time of withdrawal. And two, we shouldn't have made such bold statements about how the talaban can and cannot do certain things. The timing was poor, and making those assumptions that the taliban couldn't do things was wrong. It is a complete disaster. I can't understand why this wasn't thought out before. You just wonder why we couldn't have just taken care of them pus all the people that we still have over there right yet.
