The Role of Vowels in the Iroquois Languages
Not all vowels will carry a super-signal at least in this language. So it's sort of like the certain vowels have resisted historically the change or something. And then you have fun languages like Cherokee which has a single nasalized vowel which is of its own quality. That's a really, that's a really bizarre one. It's a characteristic of the Iroquois languages but I don't know how common that is in other language families.
