ApoB is a protein that sits on the outside of something called a lipoprotein, a lipid protein carrier. It acts kind of like a structural protein, hold it together. ApoB particles predict risk: more particles floating around in your bloodstream, more likely they could interact with arid walls. Having normal cholesterol doesn't mean you don't have plaque in your arteries. But if you're able to get through what's going on with your arteries, you're probably not at high risk for heart attack.
