The Importance of Efficiency in Jiu Jitsu

Efficiency is often kind of relative to what your opponent is doing. So you do a technique on someone who isn't defending it well and it might be very efficient. You attempt the same technique against someone who defends it well andIt might be a real struggle to make it happen. That's where innovation comes into play because sometimes you can find a technique that just your opponent doesn't expect, right? If you can pull something out of your bag of tricks that they don't see coming, they often fail to defend it. And if they fail to defended it, you're going to be more efficient at doing it than if they put up an intelligent defense.
