A lot of people underestimate how much of a fit they would be for things they haven't tried yet. People should stay in an area where they have expertise and try to build a bridge between their own knowledge and that of the more effective altruist or AI X-RIS community. The sort of personal fit thing applies the most to people who are like 50 years old and they're really good at something. Be wary of narrowing your search and being like well like here's path dependency yeah like I'm here already. You can get up to speed within three years if you focus on one field, but probably faster if you choose another areas.
