The British cycling team were just sort of middle of the pack and so they asked Brailsford what's your plan for overcoming this. They started by looking at a bunch of things that that you would expect a cycling team to do like lighter tires, more ergonomic seats or biofeedback sensors on their bikes. When he coached the British cycling team at the Olympics in London in 2012 they won 70% of the gold medals available. He thought if we can execute on this strategy we can actually do all these little 1% changes I think we can win the Tour de France within five years but ended up being wrong.
