Lu lennart, a jewish pilot fighting with the israelis during the 19 forty eight war of independence was one of them. Lu lenart recalled later in his life, i told rabin again, shoot the mare, burn the village. He refused, saying, we are jews. We can't do that. My people will bleed for this, but his will bleed more. Rabin was an idealist. That's what was wrong with israel then, and it's what's wrong with is Israel to day. The founders had suffered pagrams and persecution for so many centuries in russia and eastern europe that it became a point of honor with them
