CHAPTER

Lei Jun and Boy Yang

Jiang's handling of Lei Jun in 1960 put everyone on notice as far as what to expect if you swam against the KMT current. Then there was the boy Yang incident. His case was quite interesting not only for how he was manhandled and thrown into Green Island prison where he was tortured and subject to a long period of incarceration. In all his memoirs that he had written throughout the period of incarceration on Green Island were seized from him when he was freed. Following his death in 1979, attempts were made by his widow and others to get the authorities to release his prison memoirs. Rather than release them, the government had them burned.
