When you get into time of sleep, it's really important to think about quality of sleep. You need at least two hours of deep sleep and two hours of REM in that 24 hour period is ideal. We are a bell curve of different types of sleep, just like everything else about us as humans. No two of us are the same. If you and your partner have different sleep habits, that's actually very normal.
