Introduction
Stoicism is a school of thought arising out of an attitude first explained in Ancient Greece by Zeno of Sitium in around 300 BC. James Pierce has written and spoken with deep insight about what he calls Effortless Stoicism. It seems as if such an attitude would take a suppression of feelings that it should take effort but James explains how it can be otherwise. understanding one's emotions better means one has a better set of ideas that constitute a good explanation of reality. And once they are in possession of this they can accept reality without reacting to that reality in an unthoughtful way.
