The Fifth Way of St. Thomas
St. Thomas takes it as axiomatic, the intellect as such acts for true goals. A tendency that is not toward a good is not in itself fully intelligible or fully intelligent. We all know that if you see somebody going off on a bad path, you might say to him or they don't be stupid. Of course you might act stupidly and still get a good result. But if you hit the target time and again almost never failing, no one would say that it was mere luck.
