The Effect of Hating a Sworn Enemy
In judaism it doesn't matter what you think about someone, if you want to kill them in your heart. Thinking about hurting a sworn enemy bums people out even if on a certain level the idea is really appealing. When people do have these taboo thoughts, these intrusive thoughts, they get upset because they feel more catholic than jewish. And even when it's experimentally induced, you're like, oh, well, some one just asked me to think about my worst enemy and think about these terrible things. Even then we still feel bad.
