The Importance of Understanding Your Competitors

The party is involved. That's really, really important. Another thing that we want to make sure we understand about them in the same worksheet is what their batna is. Batna is an acronym for best alternative to negotiated agreement. For instance, if they are going to buy something from me, they don't buy it from me. They'll buy it from these four competitors. So understanding who I'm compared to again, helps me pitch against those things. And then most importantly, on the inverse of your goal, write down what your resistance point is.
