Socrates's Challenge to the State
There's a trap here, it seems to me, which goes back to the question about the relation between states and individuals. Why wouldn't that be a good thing to do? It looks as though what he's doing is shifting around between what the challenge is about. And one of the things that happens at this point, i think, is that that tension becomes very difficult to deal with.
