The Importance of Intelligence in Suffering

Suffering is a pretty basic form of intelligence required to feel fear or pain. But certainly it doesn't help when an animal can also experience maybe more complex emotions, like loneliness and boredom. I think the pigs are probably smarter than dogs. They've trained pigs to play video games. The latest move is they've tried to move toward guessing pigs. In theory, this could be done right, but, in practice, uh, it doesn't look so good either.
