Free will is the idea of sometimes at least being free to do otherwise. The metaphor a that i use is the garden of forking paths. It's not that i take one path, but i could have taken the other. But in some sense, i take both. They're both realize. No philosophers have talked about various challenges or threats to our having free will in this sense.
