The Importance of Clarity in XCOM
The rooms are small in that it kind of came from XCOM because I would get frustrated playing XCOM and I take you know move five of my units forwards very cautiously and then move the sick one forward also cautiously but he steps into one cell that none of the others did. That's the one that triggers two pods of enemies that then all come out of cover which is like 95% of what determines my success or failure of the mission. The idea of being able to place all of these things firmly in space and firmly in a world and have them connect to each other gives it a lot of that rope like roguelike vibe makes sense. Slayed the spire is an absolutely beautiful game design
