Evolution has given us, I think, the impulse of self-preservation. But also a tendency to lash out if we can't flee, flee or fear. So clearly there are biological impulses. But when you look at war, it's so organized. It may use violent impulses, but it keeps them under control. And in fact, it trains people to behave in ways in which they don't.
