Is the Joint a Limiting Factor?
After a hip replacement, the muscle's range of motion is limited because of the joint. So many times you now have muscles that have not had the ability to move in that range of motion for maybe years. Trying just to move that limb where it hasn't been able to move prior to surgery will be painful at the muscular level. The pain is mostly what I experience with these sorts of things.
