Why Socrates Decided Not to Get Into Politics, Right?

If you decide to get into politics and to statesmanship, then you have to do it with a moral compass in mind. Otherwise you become a ruthless self-serving narcissist like alzibiotics. But at the same time, you have to realize as Cicero says: We don't live in Plato's Republic but we're much closer to Romulus. And so I might as well not go in the directions that are going to be deleterious or inefficacious. That may be one reason why Socrates didn't get into politics himself; he thought his best chance was to influence people indirectly.
