The phospholipase A2 receptor is present on the surface of the photosite. In patients that have antibodies against that, they're going to have an antibody that's going to be directly attacking that photosite and causing injury. Common infection that's associated with nephrotic syndrome is syphilis can cause a secondary membranous nephropathy.
