The Importance of Tracking Time in Zone
If you choose to track time in zone, then heart rate is probably going to be the most accurate. We don't really have much data or benchmarks for what time in zone should be compared to cycling and running at least where there is a lot more research. It would be a mistake to assume that the principal just carry over directly from those sports to swimming. Yes, there are principles that apply, but it's not 100% correlation.
