Is the Output of a Thousand Dollars Too Much?

There's this whole idea of breaking down your goals and chunking them so that they're easier, easily attainable. But at the same time, are certain tasks, certain cognitively complex tasks, just not good for such carrot and steak reward and punishment kind of behavior? I still think that the output of a hundred thousand dollars is not as effective as an input or as a descriptive matter.
