The Right Side of History Rhetoric

Hirschmann: conservatism is not one thing, it's a bunch of different things with peating sort of ideas and tendencies. He says the right appeals to iron laws that can't be tampered with if you want to achieve progressive ends. The left thinks that there's a kind of right side of history that also is the outworking of inexorable laws akin to the laws of physics. Hirschmann: Over all, i don't really believe in progress. I do think maybe this is some lingering conservative element of my thought.
