Self esteem is basely a positive judgment of self worth. We know for mental health it's important to have high self esteem, as supposed to hating yourself. But the biggest problem of self esteem is that it's contingent, contingent on success. Self compassion is simply a process of being kind, supportive and warm to yourself - remembering that failure is part of the shared human condition.
