What Is a Cult?
Amanda: The word cult can really mean anything depending on the context. She says there are certain criteria that make a group cultish and us versus them dichotomy isolation psychological physical or financial exploitation perhaps there's a charismatic leader but there doesn't necessarily need to be maybe there's an ends justify the means philosophy, she adds. Amanda: I think of cults along this cultish spectrum so while we might not all agree that Scientology and Goop are both full-blown cults we can at least agree that they are cultish.
