Brode was the champion of Kafka's literary gifts and he'd always prodded him to publish more. Brode had told Max that he would not burn his papers, because they were "far too valuable for posterity" And yet there were these written instructions that Kafka left behind telling Brode to authorizing him to collect everything and to destroy it. So yes, Kafka is a kind of genius of ambivalence, you know, his work, his personal writings and his work are filled with sort of unresolvable conflict, tensions and ambivalences.
