Is Your Child Overwhelmed by a Trauma?

When psychologists use the term trauma, what we mean is an experience that totally overwhelms a person's ability to cope. We don't actually point to particular events as being traumatic because when we think in that way, it's about the impact, not the source of the impact. So if you're a parent, what I would say is for sure, like avoid anything that stands to blow your kid out of the water.
