Developing Relationships in the Origination Side

I'd see more practitioners come up from the execution side and then struggle with the skills you need to develop relationships that ultimately gets you in the origination side. It really is and it is almost comical. And for the most part, you look at who you recruit for the analyst or early associate role at either investment banks or private equity firms. The well rounded utility player could do a lot of different things. But as this market has gotten so damn competitive and everybody's specializing, it continues to crack me up how much that still happens.
