You still have to have a super high VO2 Max to be extremely successful in ultra marathon events. Having a good endurance is important for any distance, even if you're running 10Ks or marathons. In ultra, I don't think we care that much about the inner-weak threshold. The first one is your ability to resist to muscle damage or lower-length tissue damage.
