There was an active effort to whitewash the history of California right to like erase the Mexicans from the history ofCalifornia as they're kind of building the story of Los Angeles. I love that your grandmother the way she talks about that restaurant is very much about its Mexicanness and there's an amazing story of how the restaurant became famous because of a fight that happened there. There were two famous boxers there who would go on to win the world light weight championship title the next year and a Mexican American art aragon.
