One of the earliest well-sighted human performance studies was A.B. Hill Landsat paper in 1925, where he looked into world record performances. He specifically says that metabolic only work for things that are longer than 50 seconds for what's shorter than that. It's clear exercise performance is clearly limited by factors that are mechanical and nervous. So how, that's 100 years ago? How could you possibly have any insight into that 100 year ago?
