Lust is always respectable because it is what it is straightforward there you go so and that discernment bit kind of worries me. The human capacity for self-delusion is also an evolved mechanism but i do think that very few people actually do any kind of examination of conscience or questioning of of motives. Just the mere process of asking these questions at the end of a day noting the different desires that bubbled up to the surface and which ones remain and which ones go away is in itself a really really powerful exercise to do.
