Kurosawa's Redbeard
There's a story that Kurosawa the great Japanese filmmaker tells in a movie called Redbeard one of his earlier films. A patient came into the clinic named Otoyo who had been an orphan and now she was a teenage girl she was sold more or less into slavery into a brothel where she was beaten and made to clean everything every day and abused. The old doctor Redbeard said I cannot work with this woman so then Kurosawa has the scene where Redbeard comes in and remember she hasn't spoken a word but her eyes are so mournful, yet she's agitated and she's obviously fevered.
