Comparative Judgment in Writing

Teachers like to use rubrics because they can tell who's good at spelling and vocabulary. But the problem is when you start selling, I'm going to take those statements and use them to judge writing as all of those statements can be interpreted in very different ways. So a typical statement that's on an English rubric can use vocabulary with originality and flair. That is hard for teachers to define precisely. One teacher might look at a piece of writing and go yeah I think it does and another will look at it and go no I think it doesn't. And so the trick is we have to find the people who use the rubric correctly and train everybody else to agree with them
