The lactate test is looking at your metabolic health as a kind of high level. It's zooming in and looking at what fuel you're using during exercise. And interestingly, if you look at people with metabolic syndrome, so poor metabolic health, they will switch from using fat for fuel to using glucose for fuel at a very, very low power output. So when you know that, you can then go, okay, well, I'll just sit on that threshold or just shy of that threshold in a 45 minute or 60 minute cycle.
