The Different Types of Languages

The roles of a verb in different languages are split up differently. In an ergative language, the agent of a transitive verb gets marked one way and the patient of a intransitive verb get marked another way. And then it's starting to look like an awful lot of languages that were once thought to be either nominative accusinue or ergative absolute have become active state languages.
