The Importance of Generalization in Games

Are you doing this by hand like your simplification of the search space is that a thing that you're like doing up front or are you also employing some uh intelligent some computation to figure out what that means? These things just always seem very like case specific to me and i'm wondering whether because if you look at starcraft right like they had to do it or they couldn't just throw alpha zero at starcraft. They had to basically say hey this is the game of starcraft here's what's going onHere's our simplification of that.
