Sleep and the Importance of Sleep

Sleep is broken up into four stages throughout the night that cycle every 90 minutes or so. The offline conditions in sleep are important for cognitive function, memory development, learning and physical function. We know that stage three or deep sleep is very, very important for the immune system. And then finally stage four sleep or REM sleep where your eyes are moving behind your eyelids - this is when most of our dreaming occurs.
