Is Aging Causing Cardiovascular Disease?

Aging is at a minimum creating a physiological state that places you, everyone, at increased risk of developing these diseases. The mechanistic links between aging biology and disease processes are going to be somewhat different for different diseases. For cardiovascular disease, again, it's not only one cell type, one tissue type at play here. But I think the answer is probably both, right? Aging is causally contributing to mechanisms specific to each individual disease.
