In American culture there seems to be this sort of a remove of value from the public sphere we can't really seem to agree on shared values. How do we change that I mean you know what does it look like to bring that value back into the academy in a way that could be productive and generative? That is an aim of the book in some ways to kind of make that possible or at least to get people thinking in that direction. And so two things first I think you're right that we've in many sectors of the academy lost sight of wisdom and and for data accumulation but how do we re-engage with those who have been left behind by our post 9/11 era
