The Benefits of a Slow Lowering Phase for Advanced Lifters

When the advanced lifter is working with like a sort of four or five six repetitions per set, there's very little scope for modifying. The centric or lowering phase slows down naturally when you get closer to failure. I think that's certainly something that I write into intermediate level programs. If I'm trying to maximize the amount of growth in a particular tissue division, whether it's a division or a region or whatever, I'm always going to opt for something that's very stable and good machines now with particular resistance profiles.
