A high h r v is associated with better general health, due to it allowing the person to better adjust to both internal and external stimuli. Those who report as more sedentary have lower h r v when compared to a more active population. H r v has also been found to be associated with arobic capacity; those with lower arobiccapacity tend to have lower scores. This does not even begin to scratch the surface, but should go to show you that this metric is both highly useful, and imperative for us to know our numbers and make necessary modifications.
