The Permutation Test and Bootstrapping

The technique that I used in a nutshell takes different points in time and then uses a permutation test to compare rates of conflict initiation before and after those points. When it comes up with here are the points at which there was a statistically significant break or change in the underlying rate of conflict initiation. One of the change points happened in the early 1850s, which is right around the time that the concept of Europe disintegrated. And so those were sort of big flags that, you know, I think I know what happened in those years,. 1990s.
