The MacArthur Foundation Withdrew Their Funding for Nuclear Challenges
The MacArthur Foundation recently withdrew their funding that they were spending on nuclear philanthropy. Why did they do that? I think it's a curious decision, in part because they hired evaluators to take a look at their nuclear work and those evaluators found significant impact but also found there was no line of sight to achieve the goal. And so in my view, the program was discontinued not because it wasn't working, but because it didn't meet the framework that the board set.
