The average age that people lived to was 57 a hundred years ago. We're already outliving what we did by about 25 years, which is a huge amount. I think there's been an over reliance on "paternalistic medicine" The system wasn't designed to deal with this chronic burden of disease where there's no real end in sight. It's just continuous fire fighting and symptom management.
