Snowflake: A New Paradigm for Data Warehouses

The best startups, the companies that go on to be truly legendary and enduring are the ones that are really debuck conventional wisdom. I think snowflake is yet another example of that. If you can deliver the next wave of a space without forcing customers to learn a new paradigm, say like map produced instead of sequel, you're going to win big. The last thing I want to say about snowflake is I realized they had a really challenging start to life in the sense that it took them a long time for them to generate revenue. What I've seen now is that sometimes require you to be in R&D mode for a couple of years before these ideas take off.
