[RE-UPLOAD] Decolonization is Not a Metaphor - Tuck & Yang

Red Menace

CHAPTER

Anti Colonialism and Dcolonization

Tuck and yang argue that this strange, collapsible triad creates the conditions for the formation of motel minority tropes. The shuffling of indigenous between native, enslavable other and orientalized other shows how subtler colonialism constructs and collapses this triad of categories. They note that an identity of white, but also not white, can at least be temporarily constructed within settler colonialism for certain people. This identity construction is ultimately temporary, because these groups can always be moved back into the category of foreign during moments of imperialist or national crisis.
