Open loop skills are where you perform some sort of motor action and then wait, and you get immediate feed back as to whether or not it was done correctly. A good example would be throwing darts at a dart board. Closed loop is something that's more continuous - such as doing ladder work on the ground. You're able to essentially do more practice per unit time, but you're getting feed back on a moment-to-moment basis....
